Artists

Mikado2(Shuhei Yamada, Kazuma Koike, Keisuke Jimba)
Mikado2 is an artist collective consisting of three members: Yamada Shuhei, Koike Kazuma, and Jimba Keisuke. Yamada creates Dada-esque conceptual works that invite roars of laughter, such as a two-dimensional work in which “ha, ha, ha” is used in simple repetition and a neon sign that displays the words “bright future”; Koike uses objects of worship from various regions as his motif, adopting a cultural anthropological perspective to create original ceramic sculptures that resemble dogu clay figurines; and Jimba attempts a pictorial expression in which extremely personal experiences and art history narratives intersect. The collaboration of these three original artists brings a unique groove to the contemporary themes they engage with.

Mikado2 attempts to create a “lack” or “shift” in the art format, complemented with seemingly meaningless attitudes and playful acts of production.
