Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Jean-François Millet, Junko Maruyama, Nobuhiro Shimura, Yusuke Asai, Yoshikazu Yamagata
Jean-François Millet (1814-75) was a painter who continued to depict the lives of farmers living in harmony with nature during the rapid modernization of 19th-century France following the Industrial Revolution. Since acquiring his masterpiece "The Sower" at its opening, the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art has continued collecting Millet's works as a collection symbolic of the prefecture's rich natural environment.

This exhibition, held to commemorate the museum's 45th anniversary, attempts to open up a variety of interpretations by showing works by Millet and four contemporary artists.
