This exhibition marks Mio Ito's first solo exhibition at Gallery Hayashi + Art Bridge gallery and will showcase vibrant and expressive new paintings.
Mio Ito describes how, just as nature creates beautiful landscapes through the coincidence of random occurrences, there are moments in painting where the accumulation of chance creates expressions different from the original intent. Her works, filled with colorful and dynamic brushstrokes, create dynamic fusion across layers through the process of layering and scraping colors. In the moment when unintended layers or colors come together, new balance and order are created within the work. Rather than moving the brush aimlessly, questioning the necessity of the parts she finds beautiful. By holding the initiative but also waiting for a response from the painting, she finds a new order within the canvas. The completed works have a unique balance and rhythm, giving viewers a sense of looking into her diary.
The title of this exhibition comes from a passage inspired by petals that flew into a spider's web from somewhere after a typhoon had passed, where they appeared to be floating in the sky depending on the angle. The exhibited works are divided into several types of canvases, creating a rhythm in the exhibition that allows visitors to enjoy the differences in brushstrokes.
