Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts opened in May 1936 as Japan's third public art museum after Tokyo and Kyoto. The museum's collection of approximately 8,500 items includes various Japanese and Chinese paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, and crafts, ranging from B.C. to the modern era. It is set to undergo extensive renovations before the 90th anniversary in 2026. During the closure, visitors have a chance to see the masterpieces from the collection in Kumamoto Prefecture.

AccessFrom the Shirakawa exit (East exit) of JR Kumamoto Station, take the Streetcar and get off at Kumamoto Castle / City Hall.
