Mizuki Ito + Ayami Ueda "Traces of the Wind, Outlines of Breathing"

Katsuya Susuki Gallery
Finished

Artists

Mizuki Ito, Ayami Ueda
The title "Traces of the Wind" refers to the invisible but existent forms left by the wind, the disparity between the act of seeing and drawing, such as trying to see and depict the wind after it has passed. "Outlines of Breathing" similarly refers to being conscious of invisible forms. It imagines the flow of invisible air occurring outside the room and inside the body, like the wind and breath.

Ito unfolds scenes that serve as triggers for understanding her inner self, visualizing the impressions of objects and the movements of her mind through the medium of painting. Ueda, while focusing on her own body, observes external landscapes and portrays scenes where the surrounding landscapes are transmitted through her body and reflected in the glass, bringing her body closer to the external scenery.

This two-person exhibition explores the traces of unseen phenomena from various perspectives, both from within and outside, through painting.
