Momoko Yoshida
Momoko Yoshida is a contemporary artist who expresses the world of images imagined through music in her paintings, based on the theme of presence and exuberance felt through music. Last year, he won the Grand Prix at “Face 2023" and the Sachiko Shoji Jury Prize at "Idemitsu Art Award 2022," marking a breakthrough year for Yoshida, who has been garnering increasing attention in recent years.

Yoshida's creative process begins with creating a three-dimensional image of an imaginary world he has envisioned and filming the image. He creates three-dimensional forms of the characters and backgrounds in his images and then shoots the images of these scenes with a single-lens reflex camera. Yoshida's work is created by drawing a frame from that footage. In the process of creating an image on canvas, noise is removed step by step, and through repeated selection and elimination, the private world is given objectivity and a bird's eye view. The result is a series of independent paintings with images that can be shared with others. The light colors and drips of paint in the paintings combine the precision of a printed image with a realistic, happening element.

In addition to the series of portrait paintings synonymous with Yoshida, this exhibition will feature the "Miya=morph" series, which depicts fictional brand accessories worn by the characters in her paintings.
