Monster Exhibition is an art project centered on the theme of Kaiju (monsters), drawing from the Japanese belief that gods inhabit everything,such as mountains, seas, winds, plants, and even houses. This concept, intertwined with a sense of dread towards the natural world, gave rise to the creation of Kaiju. Initiated in the aftermath of the 3.11 earthquake and tsunami, the exhibition utilizes the tsunami as a metaphor to delve into this theme. Artists are encouraged to interpret Kaiju in their own unique ways within the rich Japanese context, with no restrictions on artistic mediums, encompassing film, painting, sculpture, graphics, games, flower arrangement, and architecture.
