FUJIFILM SQUARE is pleased to present photographer Naoki Ishikawa's exhibition ASCENT OF 14 2001–2024: Scaling All Fourteen 8,000-Meter Peaks from Friday, August 29 to Thursday, September 18. The title refers to the fourteen 8,000-meter mountains spanning the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges. Ishikawa first set foot in Tibet at the age of 23, marking the beginning of an epic journey in the Himalayas. Starting with an Everest expedition in 2001, he continued to shoot with film cameras while scaling all fourteen of the world's peaks of 8,000 meters or more, ultimately completing the series with his ascent of Shishapangma in 2024.
This exhibition includes many works being shown for the first time, such as positive-film images from his first expedition. Approximately 70 large-format photographs trace Ishikawa's 23 years of climbing in the Himalayas.
