Nathalie Guarracino
Born in the Cevennes region of southern France, Nathalie Guarracino moved to the US to study art and later worked in a studio located in mid-town Manhattan for many years. Invigorated and fueled by the unique artistic energy of the city, she also strived to distance herself from its endless distractions by pursuing in her work the sense of peace and quiet that was missing in that urban world. With a limited (mostly earth tone) palette, discreet mark makings subtly referring to nature, and simple compositions, she creates paintings that evoke an ongoing state of contemplation and meditation, paintings that hold the viewer in the experience of the moment.
