Kaii Higashiyama
The themed exhibition showcases artworks from our collection, mainly focusing on prints by Kaii Higashiyama, selected based on themes such as seasons, subjects, and locations.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the designation of one of Japan's first national parks, the Seto Inland Sea National Park, in 1934. In commemoration, artworks depicting the nature-rich landscapes of various national parks across Japan will be exhibited, including "Morning Inland Sea" depicting Higashiyama's grandfather's birthplace, Hitsuishijima (Hitsuishijima/Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture).

From the large windows of the lounge, visitors can gaze upon Hitsuishijima in the distance and the Seto Ohashi Bridge, whose light grey color was suggested by Higashiyama himself, right before their eyes. Architect Yoshio Taniguchi designed the facility to ensure that the striking scenery associated with Higashiyama appears impressively after viewing, creating a space to share the artist's feelings for his ancestral homeland.
