agnès b. galerie boutique is pleased to present KAWARU MONO KAWARANAI MONO, a solo exhibition by NAZE from Saturday 24 May to Sunday 29 June. Rooted in graffiti culture, NAZE creates tactile drawings, spray and collage-based paintings, sculptural objects made from discarded materials, as well as textile works. He is also a member of the artist collective contact Gonzo.

NAZE approaches waste materials not simply as “rubbish,” but as a medium for creative expression. His practice reflects a willingness to set aside conventional notions of utility or beauty, and instead reframe these materials with fresh eyes. Rather than offering a surface-level critique of consumer culture, his work invites us to reconsider how we encounter objects in the first place—seeking to recover a more innocent, supple relationship with the things around us, one that precedes value judgement. In today’s world, where efficiency and logic tend to dominate, NAZE’s playful, improvisational approach calls forth a renewed sense of what creativity might mean—and what it can make possible.

For this exhibition, NAZE will take up residence at the gallery during the installation period, creating work in situ and gradually completing the pieces within the space. Even after the exhibition opens, the artist plans to return from time to time, subtly transforming the environment. Additionally, agnès b. will provide fabric swatches from past collections, which will be incorporated into the artworks as part of the exhibition.
