Nobuko Nakano
Brain scientist and critic Nobuko Nakano will hold a solo exhibition of her work as an artist. In conjunction with this exhibition, an event to measure brain waves will be held on weekends during the exhibition period by reservation only. The measured brain waves of your own nucleus can be purchased as a one-of-a-kind work of art.

In an attempt to explore what kind of brain processes humans use to process our complex social nature and how art contributes to human evolution, Nakano will provide viewers with various perspectives in an attempt to visualize brain waves, which he has classified, as art. In this exhibition, Nakano takes up the theme of the "mathematical sublime," which has traditionally been discussed in the aesthetic realm. She analyzes the considerations surrounding the complexity and resolution of this cognitive function, which is unique to the human brain, from the perspective of brain science, in an attempt to provide an opportunity to deepen our thinking together with the viewer.

This exhibition features approximately 20 works, including a design based on the artist's own brain wave data actually measured, and work created using StareReap 2.5 (a three-dimensional printing technology by Ricoh Company, Ltd.) based on an image generated as a result of inputting keywords that are distinctly different from those of humans into an AI with a different cognitive structure from that of humans. The exhibition will feature approximately 20 works.

StareReap is an art project by Ricoh Company, Ltd. that uses digital technology to create various unevenness and textures with inkjet technology.
