Miki Ukai
Miki Ukai is an artist who creates works exploring the relationship between people, objects, and spaces. Her primary medium is latex, a liquid rubber. Initially white like milk, it hardens upon exposure to air, turning an amber color. Ukai transforms latex into large membranes, which she then arranges in space. The subtly colored surface of the membrane reflects and transmits light, quietly interacting with its surroundings. Viewers become aware of their bodies, and their heightened consciousness extends outward. Depending on variables like location and weather conditions, the relationship between human consciousness and the environment changes. In Ukai's hands, this material reveals infinite possibilities.

Due to the nature of liquid rubber, the artwork is created on-site at the exhibition location. For this event, Ukai will pour latex into frames, let it dry, and then move and install the pieces, all in public view. There will also be collaborative creation sessions with guest artists and discussions. This open creation process will showcase both the past and future of Miki Ukai's work.
