Artists

Osamu Harada
From the late 1970s to the 1990s, Osamu Harada, the creator of Osamu Goods, which exploded in popularity among junior high and high school girls, drew inspiration from American comics, TV anime of the 1950s and 1960s, and pop art. His illustrations, characterized by simple lines and refreshing colors, significantly influenced Japan's subsequent "kawaii" culture.

This exhibition, the first nationwide touring exhibition since his passing, explores Harada's comprehensive works. It focuses on a wide range of creations across advertising, publishing, and various merchandise, starting with his illustrations for "AnAn" magazine in the 1970s, marking his debut as an illustrator. The exhibition includes early materials from his childhood to his early twenties, as well as related essays and materials from his collection "Boku no Bijutsucho," aiming to reveal the full scope of Osamu Harada's enduring appeal across generations.
