Kanaz Forest of Creation

Artists

Osamu Harada
Osamu Harada, creator of “Osamu Goods," which exploded in popularity among middle and high school girls from the late 1970s to the 1990s, has been a major influence on Japanese "kawaii" culture since then, with his illustrations influenced by American comics, TV animation, and pop art of the 1950s and 1960s. His illustrations, especially the characters drawn with simple lines and fresh colors - had a great influence on the Japanese "kawaii" culture that followed.

This exhibition, the first traveling exhibition of his work since his death, focuses on his work for "an-an" in the 1970s, which triggered his career as an illustrator, as well as his works in other fields such as advertising, publishing, and various goods, with materials from his childhood to his early 20s and those related to his essay collection "Boku no Bijutsu-cho."
