Parco Advertising 1969 - 2023: Celebrating 50 Years of Advertising at Parco

This exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of Shibuya Parco, reinterpreting more than half a century of advertising creativity since 1969 from a contemporary perspective, providing an overview of Parco's advertising history.

While advertising is a form of corporate promotion and a means of sales promotion, Parco's advertising has been delivered as an expression that goes beyond the commercial realm, thanks to the top creators of the time over the past 50 years.

The venue is structured in a way that traces back through four different eras: "the 2000s and beyond," "1990s," "1980s," and "1970s." In each area, hypothetical keywords corresponding to the spirit of each era have been set, such as "Prediction" (1970s), "Advertisement" (1980s), "Shibuya" (1990s), and "Art" (2000s and beyond), shaping each era.

The posters and commercial works on display have been selected through discussions with two guest curators for each area, and the content of these discussions will be screened within the exhibition space. These conversations will also be included in the official exhibition booklet available for purchase at the venue.
