Honmoku in Yokohama, located in Naka Ward, is a historic area renowned for its shifting coastal views and mild climate. Once a favored location for painters, Honmoku has transformed through coastal reclamation and redevelopment. The museum is revising its exhibition on "Yokohama Honmoku and Painting" to address questions such as why this area has been portrayed in modern Japanese art, how it has been portrayed, and how modern artists have explored these themes.
