Plum and Cherry Blossoms

Museum of Beni
Finished
Plum and cherry blossoms, beloved symbols of Japan, have deep cultural roots. Plum trees were introduced from China, while cherry trees were native to Japan. Both symbolize beauty and good fortune. In ancient poetry, plum blossoms were prevalent, while cherry blossoms gained prominence during the Heian period for their elegance. This shift influenced art, poetry, and even cosmetics, with plum symbolizing fragrance and cherry blossoms representing color. The Museum of Beni invites visitors to explore these themes and their impact on our inclination towards cosmetics.
