Artists

Marc Chagall
The painter Marc Chagall (1887–1985) is perhaps best known for his fantastic and colorful depictions of lovers, bouquets, and animals. In addition to painting, Chagall was also involved in printmaking, and his print works, the result of a collaborative effort with a publisher and a workshop, are imbued with a different kind of charm than his paintings. This exhibition presents outstanding prints from every stage of the artist’s career, including Daphnis and Chloé, and Circus, which are drawn from the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura & Hayama. In addition to focusing on the stories, motifs, and techniques in Chagall’s works, viewers can savor his profound artistic expressions.
