Shinbism, initiated in 2016 under the direction of Kunio Motoe, the art director of Nagano Prefecture, has brought together curators from museums across the prefecture to collaborate and select artists with ties to Shinshu. The project has introduced a total of 76 artists across 18 venues from the 1st to the 5th exhibitions. This initiative has garnered attention as a rare and noteworthy endeavor nationwide.

This exhibition, named "Re-Shinbism 2," focuses on the artists from Shinbism 2 (2018). By bringing together their works from four museums in Nagano Prefecture to Chino City, the exhibition aims to reflect on the past six years, showcasing how the artists have evolved and what they are currently creating. The title "Re-Shinbism" incorporates not only revisit but also meanings like reconsider, reborn, relate, and respect.

Additionally, starting in 2023, Shinbism has been advancing workshops for teachers and facilitating model schools as part of the prefecture’s "Art-Based Learning Promotion Project," aiming to spread dialogue-based art appreciation in schools.

The hope is that this exhibition will offer an opportunity for visitors to reexamine the significance of Shinbism and contemporary art in Nagano Prefecture. Through the ongoing implementation of this project, the aim is to expand art appreciation opportunities for residents, enhance support for contemporary artists across the prefecture, improve curatorial awareness and skills, promote networking among local museums and galleries, and advance overall art promotion in the prefecture.
