“Revue Diapo” is an independent photo magazine from Paris, France, centered on the concept of “anachronism”—a deliberate embrace of outdated media and methods. Founded in 2024 by the Paris-based creative studio RIMASÙU, the magazine explores the temporality of photography and the reconstruction of memory through the eyes of contemporary photographers, much like the revival of LPs and cassette tapes in today’s digital era.
Each issue focuses on a single photographer, compiling their archives, personal research, and both unpublished and reissued images. The accompanying texts are curated in a way that encourages diverse interpretations rather than dictating a singular understanding.
One distinctive feature of each issue is the inclusion of 9 actual positive film slides embedded in the cover. This unique presentation, paired with modern interpretation and design, offers a fresh perspective that resonates across generations and has garnered significant attention.
This time, Issue N°003 features Kanade Hamamoto’s “midday ghost” series, while Issue N°004 highlights Yusuke Yamatani’s “ONSEN” series. The back-to-back publication of two Japanese photographers marks a special occasion. In addition to French and English, these editions also include Japanese, making them trilingual.
Though it is a magazine, each issue of Revue Diapo feels like a small exhibition space in itself. In today’s world, where images are often fleetingly consumed on social media, this limited six-day exhibition offers a rich opportunity to encounter and possess photography in a tangible way.
