Artists

Rin Nakanishi
Growing up in a family that runs a patisserie, the artist was surrounded from an early age by flour, sugar, butter, and chocolate — materials that became part of everyday life and bodily memory.

Using edible ingredients, the artist creates sculptural works that exist simultaneously as objects of contemplation and as bodies destined for consumption. Form, in this practice, is always temporary.

In A Circled View, a chocolate sculpture of a sheep’s head is displayed inside a refrigerator — a device of preservation and isolation.
Held in cold, the work is temporarily maintained, while carrying within it the certainty of melting, collapse, and disappearance.

Through food as a medium, the artist transforms sculpture into a relational space, engaging the viewer’s body, memory, and sense of time. The work resonates with contemporary relational art, where meaning emerges through encounters, situations, and shared experience.
