This group exhibition in celebration of Roppongi Art Night 2022 spotlights both artists represented by Kaikai Kiki Gallery and guest creators.
After three postponements, Roppongi Art Night is finally happening again this year; It was first deferred immediately after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, followed by two further delays caused by the State of Emergency declarations made by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. This year’s Roppongi Art Night will feature balloons created as collaborations between “Doraemon” and 13 artists, with curation by Takashi Murakami. These Doraemon balloons reflecting the worldviews of each artist comprise the main program.
Kaikai Kiki Gallery will showcase the maquettes on which these balloons are based. Although small in size, the original maquettes, which were painted and designed by the artists, have a powerful presence different from the balloons. Furthermore, works by each artist will be exhibited alongside their balloon maquettes. This show lets you fully enjoy the creative visions of the artists participating in Roppongi Art Night 2022.
