Ryosuke Imamura + Takayuki Mitsushima Exhibition

Atelier Mitsushima
Finished

Artists

Ryosuke Imamura, Takayuki Mitsushima
Ryosuke Imamura has created many works in which motifs extracted through the process of elimination of matters based on the smallest of everyday insights are elaborately composed.

Takayuki Mitsushima, on the other hand, captures everyday life through senses other than sight and recreates events by combining fragmentary episodes of tactile and auditory sensations.

Prior to this exhibition, Imamura and Mitsushima have been meeting regularly for six months since 2022 to exchange their daily sensory perceptions. They have exchanged sensory information many times, sometimes listening to birds singing in front of the stone garden of Daitokuji Temple, and sometimes discussing the senses from memory.

Although both artists are visually impaired, this exhibition focuses on the differences in sensory perception that arise from their personal lives and stances as artists and explores the possibilities for new forms of expression that arise from these differences.
