Ryuichi Ishikawa, the winner of the 40th Ihei Kimura Award for "Panoramic Polyphony, continues to produce notable works such as "Zk," following the same theme, and the vivid photo book "Within Life."

However, only one photograph, "Soundscape," is displayed at this exhibition, while the rest are composed of "Soundscapes" from four different visuals. "Soundscape" features a collage photograph where shutters, bowls and pipes, vending machines, and trees are gathered, creating a beautiful contrast between bright green and red.

Now, let's consider "Soundscapes," consisting of both sound and visuals. Take, for example, a piece that records white bowls and multiple pipes in dim outdoor surroundings. Headphones are connected to the monitor, playing the sounds of water making contact with the ground or water surface. These sounds have distinct differences, forming a single piece of music. However, it's not clear which water droplets are creating these sounds. Upon closer examination, it becomes apparent that droplets continuously fall from the top of the pipes and outside the monitor.

As observed, the focus areas during appreciation change due to the sounds. There is an interplay between sound and image. This characteristic is also evident in another monitor that constitutes "Soundscapes," where most of the screen is covered with swaying trees.

The sounds in this work are also heard through headphones. When watching the video alone, it is challenging to imagine the sound, but you hear a more specific, somewhat grating noise similar to the sound produced when bubbles are generated in liquid. The intriguing sound and the movement of the trees correspond, adding a new impression to the trees themselves and their motion.
