Photographer Ryuji Tokuda is active in the field of commercial photography. In parallel, he has been energetically presenting his works through solo and group exhibitions since 2016.
His series, "Comprise," focuses on photographing objects and items of significance to individuals—things that compose or define them. Using these photographs, he creates portraits of the individuals themselves. Employing the technique he introduced in his 2022 work, "Marble," Tokuda blends multiple photographs to paint pictures.
Tokuda believes that by depicting one's life through the colors of objects, a deeper understanding of the person can be gained from a different perspective. He poses questions to the viewers like, "What are your cherished belongings? / How have they influenced your life?" encouraging them to reflect on the impact these objects have had on their lives.
