Artists

Saiko Shiiki
Artist Saiko Shiiki explores the expression of pictures and words. In recent years, she has been actively incorporating communication with others into her work by collecting people's words at workshops and creating works of art from them. One of Shiiki's lifeworks is to create calendars.

This time, Shiiki will hold an exhibition of original drawings for the 2023 calendar at the "Hitotsubo Gallery," a show window space in the Tsomoriri Bunko. The theme is "Tonda" (meaning "jumping" in Japanese) with depictions of 12 animals jumping around. The original drawings are made by drawing and silk-screening on Japanese paper with strong lines. The calendar is designed by graphic designer Seita Kobayashi. During the exhibition, a painting and words workshop will also be held.

Also on display will be works inspired by Shiiki's travels in Yanbaru, Okinawa from late summer to autumn. Purchasers of calendars and paintings will receive a limited number of mini drawings handwritten by Shiiki.
