Satoru Makimura
Celebrating her 50th anniversary in 2023, Satoru Makimura is known for her work featuring positive women and dynamic dance. 1973 marked her debut in "Bessatsu Margaret", and in 1978 she became popular for "Aranjuez of Love" based on figure skating. In the 1990s and 2000s, Makimura continued to create beautiful works such as "Delicious Relationship," "Imagine," "Do Da Dancin'! and "Real Clothes," all of which depicted independent women and were made into TV dramas.

In addition to creating numerous works, Makimura's essay "Imagine Notebook," released in 1998, became a topic of conversation as she candidly discussed her complicated upbringing and her life as a manga artist. Makimura has continued to pursue "happiness" through her artwork. She has also published numerous books of essays on fashion and health, and her lifestyle is also attracting attention.

This exhibition introduces a variety of works by Satoru Makimura, who continues to work as an active manga artist.
