Satoshi Okano
The expression of light in the history of painting has been a subject of various experiments along with spatial representation.

There have been different expressions of light depicted in various eras, such as Rembrandt's dramatic play of light and shadow, Turner's portrayal of the sunset reminiscent of Romanticism, and the pointillist technique known as the brushstroke division of Impressionist painters like Sisley.

In Satoshi Okano's works, he depicts an inorganic and somewhat nostalgic light, akin to the light emitted from a small cathode-ray tube television. The imagery evokes a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of a scene from an anime seen somewhere before.

In a dimly lit room, where a television seems to be playing in the background, both the received light and the imagery appear somewhat passive and vague. However, this passive state itself seems to reflect the artist's interaction with the external world, including light. Despite the bright and poppy color palette, the works subtly harbor a peculiar tranquility at their core.
