The National Film Archive of Japan is hosting a special event on October 27th to commemorate UNESCO's World Day for Audiovisual Heritage. The event will focus on reevaluating two significant film stars from Japan's past: Matsunosuke Onoe and Shirogoro Sawamura. The event will include expert lectures and a screening of "Goro Masamune Koshi Den" (1915). The screening will be accompanied by live music blending Japanese and Western elements, as well as vocal performances following the original script. This event aims to shed light on lesser-known aspects of Japanese cinema history and the valuable work of film and audiovisual archives as preservers of cultural heritage.
