Sayumi Kudo
Sayumi Kudo hails from Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is renowned for her intricate line art. She graduated from Musashino Art University, College of Art and Design, Department of Painting, where she honed her craft. After completing her university studies, she embarked on a full-fledged journey into the world of detailed line art.

Kudo’s distinctive style involves painstakingly creating fine lines using pigment-based 0.03mm pens. For her, the meticulous accumulation of lines serves a role akin to traditional paint on a canvas. Her primary focus revolves around depicting female figures, with various forms of flora and fauna appearing in her works, guided by the concept and narrative of each piece. The women Kudo portrays exhibit a captivating array of qualities within a single female persona. They exude a delicate charm reminiscent of young girls, yet possess an enchanting allure. They radiate elegance while retaining an endearing innocence. At times, they evoke maternal sentiments and, on occasion, even exude a sense of androgyny, showcasing a diverse spectrum of emotions. Kudo’s depiction of hands and fingers is particularly distinctive. Despite their surreal forms and placements within her compositions, they assert a strong presence within the artwork, hinting at the depicted women's relationships, intentions, and narratives.

This exhibition showcases Kudo’s latest work inspired by the mysterious world of the deep sea and the low-frequency tones echoing in the seabed. This will be presented alongside some of her representative pieces from the past.
