Kumiko Kobayashi
Born in Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, Kumiko Kobayashi graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts (majoring in printmaking) and has been working energetically while working as an art teacher at a junior high school. Her works have been exhibited mainly in the Kansai area, and she has received the Shunyokai Yomiuri Shimbun Award and the European Art Prize at the World Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Japan, France, and China.

During her teaching career, Kobayashi met Tae Kim, a resident of Nagashima Aisei-en, a sanatorium for leprosy in Okayama Prefecture, and deepened exchanges with her by visiting the sanatorium with his students and holding a lecture by Kim at the school.

Unforeseen events that happen to oneself or one's loved ones can transform the world, but even in the strata of grief, there is hope for the future. This exhibition will focus on mezzotint works under the theme of “waiting time."
