Shin-hanga is artwork produced during the Taisho era through the collaboration of publisher Shozaburo Watanabe, a leading artist, and skilled carver and printer. While inheriting the woodblock printing techniques of ukiyo-e, these prints sought further experimental and meticulous carving and printing processes, resulting in innovative and highly artistic woodblock prints.

This exhibition will primarily showcase landscape prints created from the early Taisho era. Based on sketches made during travels, the exhibition will feature around 90 prints, predominantly landscape works that evoke rich poetic sentiments and nostalgia. The leading figure in the new woodblock print movement, Hasui Kawase, will be presented alongside other artists such as Shiro Kasamatsu, Koitsu Tsuchiya, Goyo Hashiguchi, and Hiroshi Yoshida.
