Shinichi Kaneko
For many years, through drawing, painting, and sculpture, Shinichi Kaneko has worked to visualize the invisible "relationships" that occur between people and things. For Kaneko, the representation of limbs in Shunga is more emotional and sensual than the faces and expressions of the people depicted and is like a microcosm within the painting, where the painters of the time were telling stories with their limbs and fingertips. Since the impact of Shunga, Kaneko's own images of involvement and communion have maintained a complexity that has been hieroglyphic in its appearance.

This exhibition will feature a series of drawings, "Shunga Hieroglyphs," which depict the tangled limbs of Shunga in hieroglyphic form, as well as other works strongly influenced by Shunga. In addition, past works such as "Wago - Shin-On (2018)," a sculpture of Shunga hands, and "Love fortune 48 (2017)," a series of 48 sexual techniques developed as a talisman, will be on display, as well as zines and goods created especially for this exhibition.
