The exhibition at Artstudio Nazukari Warehouse in March 2024 will feature screenings of three films by Shinichi Takahashi, as well as exhibitions of photographic works, unreleased footage, and related materials, along with talk shows.
Shinichi Takahashi, known as a photographer, has also made significant contributions as a writer across various fields with a focus on music. He is also the founder of the Cuban music record label Kamitalabel. While active in multiple areas, Takahashi traveled to Cuba with a handheld camera and completed his first directorial music documentary film, "Cu-Bop."
"Cu-Bop" achieved an exceptionally long run at Shibuya Uplink and was screened nationwide, receiving high praise at international film festivals. This exhibition will showcase both versions of the film, "Cu-Bop Cuba〜New York music documentary," edited by Takahashi, and "Cu-Bop across the Border," re-edited for international screenings. Additionally, the complete version of the documentary film "The Fools," which focuses on the enigmatic rock band "The Fools" active in Japan's underground scene since the 1980s, will be screened.
Accompanying the screenings, talk shows will be held.
Furthermore, there will be a photo exhibition by Shinichi Takahashi featuring The Fools/Cuba, as well as unreleased footage and rare materials related to each film on display.
