Shiro Kuramata
Toki-no-Wasuremono relocated from Aoyama to Komagome in 2017. By chance, Shiro Kuramata was born in this neighborhood and attended the nearby Showa Elementary School. In commemoration of Shiro Kuramata's upcoming 90th birthday, Toki-no-Wasuremono is holding the "Shiro Kuramata Exhibition" in his hometown.

The exhibition will feature ongoing editions of silk screen works in the series "Shiro Kuramata Cahier" (Volumes 1, 2, 3), the precious original print "Mukyoku II," exhibited at the 1979 Tokyo International Print Biennale, a mirror designed for the rooms of the Tsukuba Daiichi Hotel in 1983, "Cabinet de Curiosite" created for his solo exhibition in Paris in 1989, chairs like "How High the Moon," small items such as perfume bottles and flower vases, and sculptures like "Seal of Roses."

Moreover, starting on November 18th at the Setagaya Art Museum, a retrospective exhibition titled "The Work of Shiro Kuramata: A Microcosmos of Memory" is being held, offering a new perspective on Shiro Kuramata's works and his persona. The exhibition will then go to the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art in February and the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto in June. Additionally, in the 2024 fiscal year, a small-scale archive exhibition summarizing Shiro Kuramata's work in Shizuoka is planned at the Shizuoka City Museum of Art.

As a pre-event, an event will be held at the Shizuoka bar "Comblé," where Shiro Kuramata was involved. A special feature covering 28 pages has also been prepared in the December issue of the interior and design magazine 'Elle Deco.' Even after 32 years since his passing, Shiro Kuramata's acclaim continues to grow.
