Shiro Tsujimura's solo exhibition will be held at LAG (LIVE ART GALLERY) from Thursday, March 7 to Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Shiro Tsujimura, a Japanese leading ceramic artist has been creating for over 50 years with his kiln and residence built by his own hands in the mountains of Nara prefecture. While he focuses on creating ceramics, there are no obvious boundaries between the expressions, and he has created unique works with a consistent attitude of moving his hands purely.
”When human beings create a certain form out of randomness, it seems to me that there are some commonalities from ancient times to the present day. From the past to the present, and into the future, the way people live will change in various ways, however, I would like to continue to create while being involved in something that will never change. “ *1
Although he content above he was saying about 50 years ago, his creating attitude of incorporating randomness while always keeping his eyes on universality has remained unchanged today. The works he has produced tell us what is the essence while refusing easy-to-understand verbalization or categorization.
This exhibition will feature large, medium, and small round vases, as well as calligraphy. Some paintings were created in the 1970s, and others in different eras will be also displayed. We hope you will take this valuable opportunity to see the exhibition.
