Artists

Shoko Nakagawa
Shoko Nakagawa has been creating primarily installation artworks using intangible elements such as sound and light, as well as everyday materials like soap and tissues. Drawing from her experiences from childhood to the present, she attempts to reinterpret the local sensibilities that are unconsciously inherited from life and the environment.

In this exhibition, Nakagawa contemplates the concept of "guidance" as a parent. The Pied Piper refers to the legendary figure from German folklore known as the "Pied Piper of Hamelin," who, according to the tale, used the magical sound of his flute to lead children out of the town and away. While being aware of the role and responsibility of teaching social norms through education, she also grapples with anxieties. Against this backdrop of conflict, she plans to present works using sound as a medium.
