Shuji Okada

Shuji Okada is a renowned artist with nearly 40 years of experience, known for his unique exploration of the world through painting. Initially drawing inspiration from folklore and anthropology, the artist later focused on ecological themes, emphasizing the relationship between life and the environment. Okada has experimented with various artistic forms, such as microscope photographs of underwater microorganisms and works inspired by Lake Biwa. During the creative process, the artist tries to connect with natural communities and retrieve deep memories by opening up our senses to perceive the world from a different perspective. The exhibition primarily showcases Okada's new series, Introduction to Natural Studies, which combines classical oil painting techniques, creating a distinct texture and color effect over time. The exhibition will include approximately 17 pieces, including large-scale oil paintings and drawings.
