Shunso Hishida
In the late Meiji period, the Japanese painter Shunso Hishida (1874-1911) created numerous masterpieces while exploring new directions in Japanese-style painting. This exhibition traces Shunso Hishida's innovative artistic journey, focusing on explorations with "lines," "air and light," and "color and classicism." The display also includes works by other artists such as Yokoyama Taikan and Shimomura Kanzan, who, like Hishida, sought artistic innovation. This exhibition is made possible through a collaboration with the Mizuno Museum in Shunso Hishida's hometown of Nagano, showcasing a selection of valuable works from their collection of early Japan Art Academy artists' works.
