Wish Less gallery is pleased to announce the Japanese artist Sony Suzuki’s solo exhibition ‘How my heart sings’. Sony Suzuki moved to the USA in 1996, spent time in Brooklyn, New York and has been based in Tokyo since 2001.
The figures in his paintings, which are based on the theme of ‘Seishun (young) paintings’ evoke a range of emotions in the viewer and make them feel personal, despite the omission of facial expressions or the blank stare. They transcend gender boundaries and celebrate a free and unconventional way of life, just like rock stars.
The style has a gentle touch, but the characters in the paintings show glimpses of firmness of purpose and are full of energy and dynamism, as if they were playing music.
The exhibition will be an opportunity to witness the trajectory of Sony Suzuki’s youthful paintings, created by his fresh sensibility and boundless imagination.
