Kitazawa Museum opened in 1983 in Suwa, Nagano is world-renowned for its collection of Galle and Daum. The museum's founder, Toshio Kitazawa, began collecting glass about 40 years ago when he visited the first Art Nouveau exhibition in Japan held at the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, with an invited expert from France, and was impressed by Galle's poetic art.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the museum's opening, this special exhibition presents more than 90 masterpieces from the museum collection, including Galle's masterpiece, "French Rose," a cup with legs, and "Spider with Nettles," a large vase from the former collection of the Daum family.
