As a related event to the ongoing exhibition, "Sense of Structure: From Horyuji Temple To The Universe," What Museum will host a special lecture titled "The Future of Wooden Architecture" by architect Sou Fujimoto and structural engineer Mikio Koshihara.

One of the exhibition's themes, "Traditional Architecture and the Future of Wood Construction," focuses on using wood as a sustainable building material. It provides a historical overview of Japanese wooden architecture from ancient times to the present, exploring the potential of future wooden structures. In line with this theme, the museum invited Sou Fujimoto and Mikio Koshihara to discuss the future of wooden architecture.

Sou Fujimoto is an internationally renowned architect and the venue design producer for the 2025 World Expo in Japan. Mikio Koshihara is a specialist in wooden architecture, researching its possibilities from traditional to modern structures from a structural perspective and working as an engineer in structural design. During the lecture, they will mainly discuss the "Osaka-Kansai Expo Grand Roof Ring," a model currently on display at the exhibition, covering its structure and significance as a wooden architecture piece, considering the historical background of wooden architecture.
