Naoko Yoshimoto
The 14th "Channel" in 2023 will introduce Naoko Yoshimoto (1972- ), a contemporary artist from Hyogo Prefecture and resident of Nishiwaki City. Yoshimoto's works, known for her three-dimensional works using old white clothes worn by people, are solemn and ephemeral, making viewers feel a sense of life and death.

In 2020, amid the new coronavirus, when human relationships are becoming less and less, and everyone feels closer to death, Yoshimoto will launch "The Birdmakers Project" with Co3 Contemporary Dance Australia, a dance company based in Perth, Australia.

This project, in which people from all over the world made birds out of their old clothes and made them fly, was performed in the dance performance "Archives of Humanity" at the Perth Festival the following year.

The dancers, crushed and fallen but united to rise up, conveyed the crisis that the isolated community faced in the aftermath of the COVID-19 disaster and the resilience of human beings to move forward into the future.
