Stones and plants. Both are natural and familiar. Perhaps that is why they have always been important materials and motifs in art.

Focusing on stones and plants, this exhibition introduces approximately 90 works from a variety of genres including painting, prints, sculpture, photography, and video, primarily from the museum's collection. Among the 42 artists in total are Kiyoko Koyama, a well-known Shigaraki ceramic artist, and two notable young artists, Soshi Matsunobu (b. 1988) and Kanako Azuma (b. 1991), who will be featured as guest artists.

For some of the work, more detailed explanations about the materials themselves will also be prepared with the cooperation of the Lake Biwa Museum of Shiga Prefecture.
