On January 31, 2023, tragedy struck when a devastating fire destroyed the home of painter, video, and animation artist Chikara Matsumoto, tragically leading to his mother’s passing. Despite this, Chikara is still in the hospital in Tokyo. Art Center Ongoing had a solo exhibition planned for Chikara in the month of February, and in response to this occurrence, we wanted to contribute in some way. To this end, we decided to organize a donation exhibition, calling upon artists familiar with Chikara to kindly participate. All proceedings generated from the work of sales from these artists, after subtracting shipping costs, will be donated to Chikara. Simultaneously, donation boxes will be set up at the exhibition venue for those who wish to donate.
