Syuya Aoki
Hectare will present photographer Syuya Aoki's solo exhibition, "cejitos (AS1211)." This exhibition is part of the exhibition last year called "cejitos (M1135)," which began when Aoki unwittingly typed "cejitos" on the keyboard to decide the title of last year's exhibition. Searching for this word will bring up the name of a wolf that lives in a wolf shelter (wolf heven international) in the small city of Tenino, Washington, USA. Aoki also encountered a moth that wandered into the gallery while setting up a previous exhibition. The moth planted eggs in the hall and soon ended her life. However, the egg produced a larva, which grew into a pupa. This led him to visit the area where the "cejitos" lives, as if led by something, and document it in photographs. This incident, though accidental, became emblematic of the "cejitos" project. Among the natives of certain parts of Washington State where the "cejitos" lives, moths were treated as sacred. As such, Aoki's "cejitos" project was born from a series of coincidences and continues to be updated.
