"Imagerie" is the French word for image and is a general term for printing and prints for popular reproductions such as bindings, illustrations, posters, picture postcards, advertisements, and cartoons.

With the development of mass media and advances in printing technology, a wide variety of popular culture flourished in the Taisho and early Showa periods. Popular artists drew imagerie for various books and printed matter and captivated people's hearts. Imagerie from this period is not only the starting point of modern design and illustration but is also loved by a wide range of generations today as art that evokes the retro and nostalgic atmosphere of the Taisho Romantic era.

This exhibition introduces artists who created Taisho imagerie, including Goyo Hashiguchi, Hisui Sugiura, Kaichi Kobayashi, Kasho Takabatake, Yumeji Takehisa, and Sayume Tachibana.
