Takahiro Yasuda
Takahiro Yasuda is an art director, graphic designer, movie director, and more. Yasuda's edgy expression has gained support from a variety of fields, and he continues to actively present his work in a wide range of fields, including art direction and design for advertising and products, as well as providing artwork to corporations and brands, and exhibiting his work both in Japan and abroad.

Yasuda's work is based on a simple yet playful design, densely layered lines and surfaces, unique color schemes and motifs, and other compositions that maximize the visual stimulation and expression of his thinking and computer graphics (CG), and are produced using the output method, which is inseparable from graphic design. The works are produced using the method of output, which cannot be separated from graphic design. Yasuda's work is like painting on canvas, and he challenges how to interpret and materialize it within the framework of CG, which is composed of layers of data, and how to make it concrete as a work of art. Yasuda is a graphic designer of unparalleled caliber.

In this exhibition, Yasuda's work focuses on the unprecedented sensation of "absence," which he felt as a result of a brain malfunction he experienced firsthand. This summer, Yasuda witnessed the horror of having his normal life and normal way of spending time suddenly disrupted. Although he was fortunate to be able to return to his daily life, he suddenly began to feel a sense of discomfort in his body and awareness as he went about his work and normal life. This event made him aware of the "absence" of things that he took for granted, and made him realize anew the hope for life as a human being and the existence of death. As if to regain the time and memories that had simply flowed and been consumed, he attempted to concretize the act of reinscribing his daily consciousness into his brain by carving and digging graphics into a black acrylic plate as an indelible form and making it tangible as a work of art. By combining symbolic motifs and symbols and incorporating them into simple graphics, the work strongly appeals to the sense of "absence" by not having those parts of the work exist. The ripple-like outlines that spread out from the motifs look as if they are trying to capture the outlines of things that are supposed to be there, or like afterimages or temperature distributions, and we can sense Yasuda's anguish as he tries to grasp the sense of "absence. Yasuda's works, which were created using new techniques, present us with a comical and positive reinterpretation of life, as he reexamines graphic design after the accident.

The exhibition will feature approximately 20 new graphic-based two-dimensional works.
