Takeshi Imaizumi
Takeshi Imaizumi had an insatiable curiosity for “Celadon” and “Tenmoku,” the two types of ceramics that were perfected in China during the Song Dynasty (960 – 1279). This drove him to devote himself to meticulous research experiments, testing new glaze formulations and firing techniques in pursuit of an expression unique to his own. “The greatest charm and beauty of pottery lies in the transformation of clay and glaze in a firing process,” says Imaizumi, whose Celadon and Tenmoku works fascinate us with their delicate glaze tone and sophisticated appearance. Takeshi Imaizumi’s Tenmoku works remind us of a starry night sky, while the Celadon ones give off a sense of infinite depth. In this exhibition, we will showcase his works, namely, sake ware, tea bowls, teacups, and flower vases, many of which are pieces you can use in your everyday life.
